Five airlines under South Korea's "Hanjin Group" jointly announced on the 23rd that, starting from the 26th of this month, passengers will be completely prohibited from using power banks in aircraft cabins.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the five airlines are Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul. Both domestic and international flights will ban the use of power banks (portable chargers) in the cabin for charging electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and digital cameras.

Power banks that meet capacity and quantity regulations may still be brought into the cabin, but passengers must place their portable chargers in a sealed bag or attach insulating tape over the charging port before boarding.

After being brought into the cabin, power banks must not be placed in overhead compartments—they may only be carried on one's person or placed under the seat, etc.
