(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) In conjunction with the open house event during the Hari Raya celebration, Brunei writer Zhu Yunli represented 24 ASEAN authors to present a book to His Excellency Mark Seah, Singapore's High Commissioner to Brunei.
The location was at a banquet hall in the Empire Hotel.
Zhu Yunli introduced the background of the book to His Excellency Mark Seah. The book "ASEAN-JAPAN & SSEAYP HORIZON" translated into Chinese as "ASEAN-Japan and Southeast Asia Youth Ship Horizon", consists of contributions from 24 authors. The 24 authors come from the 10 ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam).
This English book aims to commemorate the 47th voyage of the Southeast Asia Youth Ship hosted by the Japanese ship Nippon Maru, and also to express gratitude through words to the governments of each participating country, including ASEAN and Japan, as well as to the donors and benefactors who supported this event.
The preparation and coordination of this book were led by Singapore team representative May Tianxiang, who said that to commemorate the 47 voyages of the ASEAN-Japan Youth Ship Nippon Maru, which has transported 10,437 participants, he gathered former participants of the program to collaboratively publish this book.
The Southeast Asia Youth Ship program is sponsored by the Japanese government, and Brunei officially joined this program in 1985. Young participants come from Japan, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Representatives of young men and women from each country, acting like little diplomats, participate in visits, discussions, exchanges, and hosting programs during their stay in each country, thereby promoting understanding and solidifying friendships by getting to know the various cultural arts and customs of different countries.
