[2025 Miss Hong Kong Pageant] Penang Durian Is So Delicious, Crystal Liu: But I'm Afraid of Gaining Weight!

TVB leading actress Crystal Liu revealed that she loves Penang cuisine and durian, but during this trip to Penang, she didn't dare eat too much durian because she had to shoot swimsuit photos for this filming, and she's worried eating too much will make her gain weight and affect the results.

“I've traveled to Penang before, and I also fell in love with durian. But durian is so high in calories that I'm afraid to eat too much, in case I gain weight.”

Crystal Liu was crowned third runner-up in the 2013 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, and also won “My Favorite TVB Actress” at the TVB Star Awards Malaysia.

On Friday (1st), she was interviewed while filming on location at Penang Esplanade with the cast of “2025 Miss Hong Kong Pageant”.
Another popular TVB actor, Vincent Wong, also isn't visiting Penang for the first time. He said that he's happy to revisit the place and hopes to try some local delicacies that he missed last time, as well as visit more attractions.

He also advised the pageant candidates in this location shoot to make the most of their filming experience so that it will be useful for them in the future.

Vincent Wong was awarded “My Favorite Leading Actor” at the TVB Star Awards Malaysia and Singapore, and with his outstanding acting skills, he enjoys great popularity among local audiences.

The 14 candidates of the “2025 Miss Hong Kong Pageant” came to Penang to shoot outdoor scenes, accompanied by senior Crystal Liu and Vincent Wong.

Meanwhile, Vincent Wong’s wife is already 6 months pregnant with their second child. In order to participate in this filming, Vincent had to be away from his family for a few days, which he said made him reluctant to leave them, even if only for a short period.

This is Crystal Liu’s first time participating as a Miss Hong Kong location filming guest. She laughed and said that although she is strict, she also tries to keep the atmosphere light-hearted.

She also generously shared her experience with her juniors, advising the contestants that when facing the camera, there’s no need to act unnatural, but to present their most natural selves. The most important thing is to smile more, as it helps ease the nerves.

“My most memorable moment when I participated in the pageant was the trip to Taipei. It was more than just a competition—I also learned about interpersonal skills and how to face the camera. All of these are precious experiences.”

The “2025 Miss Hong Kong Pageant” finals will be grandly held on August 31.

The 14 pageant contestants came to Penang for location filming, and also toured famous places and tourist hot spots to experience local culture. The location shoot content will be compiled into a special 2.5-hour program, scheduled to air at 8 PM on August 16 and 23 on Jade Channel.

The 14 contestants for the “2025 Miss Hong Kong Pageant” are: No. 1 - Lee Wan Yin, No. 2 - Gan Wing Ning, No. 3 - Choi Wah Ying, No. 4 - Mok Fan, No. 5 - Tsang Yu Yiu, No. 6 - Chu Man Wai, No. 7 - Sze Yu Kei, No. 8 - Ngok Fan Dik, No. 9 - Chan Wing Sze, No. 10 - Man Nga Yi, No. 11 - Leung Sin Shuen, No. 12 - Chong Ching King, No. 13 - Yuen Man Ching, No. 14 - Ho Wing Dor.

The contestants all said during interviews that, having heard Penang is a food paradise, they are ready to try all kinds of local delicacies here.
