The Royal Malaysia Police Force is fully prepared to increase security personnel to ensure that the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit is maintained at the highest security level.

Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim, Director of the Internal Security and Public Order Department, said that in preparation for the international summit being held at the end of this month, the police will continuously assess the domestic security situation.

"A total of 34 national leaders, including US President Trump, will attend. The police, especially the Internal Security and Public Order Department, will have full responsibility for all matters related to public order."

"We estimate that more than 10,400 officers will be deployed to ensure the smooth running of the ASEAN Summit."

He said this at a press conference today (3rd), after officiating the 78th anniversary celebration of the Marine Police Force.

Azmi emphasized that the police are committed to providing comprehensive security throughout the summit, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Earlier, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin mentioned that the government will deploy 10,492 police officers and 3,000 immigration officers on duty to ensure national security is maintained and smooth immigration clearance during the summit.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar stated on July 8 that the 47th ASEAN Summit, scheduled for October 26 to 28, is expected to be the largest edition since it was first held in 1976.

He said this summit will attract the participation of several non-ASEAN dialogue partner countries, including Italian Prime Minister Meloni, Brazilian President Lula, and South African President Ramaphosa.

The ASEAN dialogue partners include Australia, Canada, China, the EU, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
