The late Hong Kong actress Yammie Lam was once dubbed the “Most Beautiful Woman of the Five TV Stations.” In her youth, she rose to fame in the film industry thanks to her stunning looks and superb acting skills. During her lifetime, rumors circulated that she was sexually assaulted by a powerful industry figure, with Eric Tsang being named at one point. Although Tsang had publicly denied the allegations, public doubt never fully subsided. In recent years, the controversy has resurfaced for discussion. In response, director Wong Jing recently addressed the topic head-on for the first time during a program interview, openly expressing his support for long-time friend Eric Tsang, saying, “How could a Buddhist do such a thing?”

Wong Jing said he had seen many comments from netizens urging him to address the matter, stating bluntly: “I’ll say it now: I don’t believe it. I think it’s impossible. I know both Eric Tsang and Yammie Lam, and I don’t think anything like that could have happened between them. If you said there was ever a romantic relationship between them, I couldn’t say for sure whether there was or wasn’t, but if we’re talking about something forced, I absolutely do not believe it!”

Wong Jing further pointed out that when you know someone for a long time, you come to understand their boundaries, and said that Eric Tsang has been a practicing Buddhist for many years and has fundamental principles. “It’s impossible for him to do something like that.” He also called on netizens to stop spreading unverified rumors. He mentioned that in recent years, there has been a lot of negative content about Eric Tsang online, and suspected that it may be a deliberate attempt to smear his reputation. As for the past photo of Tsang with a controversial figure that attracted attention, Wong Jing explained that at public events, you often need to take photos with many strangers, and you can’t possibly know everyone. So, people shouldn’t make assumptions based solely on a single photo.
