(Miri, 16th) The Member of Parliament for Miri, Chiew Choon Man, recently participated in two meaningful Hari Raya celebrations in Miri that were full of unity and values, specifically the Hari Raya celebration at Masjid An-Naim Lutong dan Majlis Rumah Terbuka Gabungan Serumpun Bersama Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Kampung Pulau Melayu.

He said these two events are not just Hari Raya celebrations but have become bonds that unite communities of different races, religions, and backgrounds. At the Luak An-Naim Mosque, we felt a friendly atmosphere where non-Muslim neighbors from adjacent churches joined in to participate in the lively celebrations. Similarly, the Hari Raya celebration at Kampung Pulau Malay attracted local residents of different ethnicities, all embracing the spirit of family and unity.

“Events like these remind us that the diversity of races and cultures in this country is not a barrier to progress but a strength that must be preserved. In Sarawak, we are very fortunate because the people here have a strong sense of identity and unity, a wealth we must inherit and share with all Malaysians.”

He pointed out that unity should not only be inherited by the next generation but should become the main narrative of our country. In a political atmosphere sometimes tarnished by divisive rhetoric, Sarawak remains the best example for other regions of the country, proving that when we respect each other and unite in diversity, peace and progress can be achieved.

“I express my deepest gratitude to the organizing committees of the two events, thanking them for their commitment to promoting harmony and unity. I wish all Muslims in Miri and Malaysia a happy Hari Raya. May the spirit of unity demonstrated in these celebrations continue to thrive in our society.”

He also said that as a representative of the people, he will continue to support community initiatives that uphold the values of unity, strive for the welfare of the people, and ensure that no community is marginalized. Let us work together to build a prosperous, united, and caring Miri.
