(Dalat, 16th) – A serious traffic accident occurred on a road in Dalat yesterday when a car and a lorry collided, resulting in two children dying at the scene and an elderly man being seriously injured.
This accident happened yesterday afternoon at around 12:30 pm on Jalan Bruan Mapal–Pergau in Dalat. Two children, aged 6 and 8 years, were confirmed dead at the scene.
Mat-Dalat District Police Chief DSP Rahim Mihos stated that the accident involved a Nissan lorry driven by a 40-year-old man and a Perodua Bezza car driven by a 60-year-old man.
He said that at the time of the incident, there were also two passengers in the car, children aged 6 and 8.
"Preliminary investigations found that the Perodua Bezza, which was driving from Dalat towards Bruan Beach, was suspected to have entered the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Nissan lorry coming from Igan towards Dalat," he said in a statement.
Rahim pointed out that the violent crash caused severe damage to the front of the car.
"The car driver suffered severe head injuries and was subsequently sent to Dalat Hospital for further treatment," he said.
He said that the two children in the car were confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel from Dalat Hospital.
He added that the police are currently investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
