(Bandar Seri Begawan, 15th) In celebration of His Majesty the Sultan’s 50th birthday, a traditional birthday parade was held this morning at the city's main square.
Amidst a beautifully decorated downtown, a large number of citizens flocked to the main square to witness the traditional birthday parade, expressing their love and loyalty to the monarch as well as patriotic enthusiasm.
This event marks the beginning of the celebrations for His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei's 80th birthday.
At 6:30 in the morning, hundreds of students gathered along the main streets, joyfully waving mini national flags to the rhythm of drumbeats, showcasing a spectacular sense of national spirit.
His Majesty the Sultan arrived at the square to preside over the parade. The Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, along with royal family members, also attended this grand and solemn parade.
Foreign guests, diplomatic envoys stationed in Brunei, palace dignitaries, government cabinet ministers, senior government officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and leaders of the Chinese community were invited to attend.
Following the playing of Brunei’s national anthem and a 21-gun salute, His Majesty the Sultan, riding in the royal vehicle, reviewed an honor guard of 1,262 members from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Royal Brunei Police Force, accompanied by the joint military and police brass band performing festive music.
Subsequently, His Majesty reviewed the contingents from the Customs, Prisons, Immigration, Fire and Rescue, Civil Aviation, Red Crescent Society, and Girl Guides Association, all from the comfort of the royal vehicle.
Afterward, the tri-service honor guards, with the military and police brass band playing, began slow and quick marches across the square, receiving salutes from His Majesty the Sultan.
Upon completion of the march, the honor guard and other participating teams unanimously shouted three times “Long live the King,” with their voices echoing across the sky.
At that moment, the Royal Brunei Air Force helicopter squadron flew above the square, warmly celebrating the Sultan’s 80th birthday and marking the conclusion of the birthday parade ceremony.
