Typhoon No. 16 this year, “Taba”, is expected to make landfall in the Zhuhai area of Guangdong on Monday (September 8). Affected by this, all kindergartens, nurseries, and primary and secondary schools in Zhuhai have suspended classes, and local scenic spots have also been closed.
According to CCTV News and Southern Metropolis Daily, the tropical depression over the South China Sea strengthened into Typhoon “Taba” last Saturday (the 6th), and is expected to make landfall on the coast between Zhuhai and Zhanjiang, Guangdong, from early morning to noon on Monday. The intensity will gradually weaken after landfall, and Guangdong may experience severe wind and rain.
As of 2:00 pm on Sunday (the 7th), Typhoon “Taba” had a maximum wind force of Level 9, located about 385 kilometers southeast of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is expected to move northwest at a speed of 20 to 25 kilometers per hour, with intensity gradually increasing.
The Zhuhai Meteorological Observatory also upgraded the typhoon warning signal in Zhuhai to yellow on the same day, and the warning signal is expected to remain in effect until Monday.
Currently, all kindergartens, nurseries, and primary and secondary schools in Zhuhai have suspended classes; all types of high-altitude, water-based, and outdoor group activities have been suspended, and scenic spots, beachfront bathing areas, and amusement parks have also been closed.
