Christine Fan Endures 6 Years of Online Bullying During Her 'Lowest Point in Life', Fights Back Against Trolls: 'No Need to Attack My Family'

Female star Christine Fan (Fan Fan) was off the radar for almost six years. She made a comeback in China last year, and even participated in the mainland variety show "Singer 2025" this year. However, her performance didn't meet expectations and she was heavily criticized by netizens. Recently, she was interviewed by mainland media, where she opened up about experiencing her lowest point in life over the past 5-6 years and shared her feelings about being cyberbullied after her performance in "Singer 2025".

In a recent interview with "Ge · Tan (Music · Talk)", Christine Fan talked about how she joined "Singer 2025" at the last minute, saying she suddenly received an invitation and saw it as a great honor, so she went on to sing a song. But it had been ages since she last appeared on television, especially a show of such magnitude, so mistakes were bound to happen. “Of course, I think I should humbly accept all criticism and suggestions, because I really didn’t do a good job. But I think people are not always perfect. I went on ‘Singer’ to enjoy myself.”

She admitted that she has seen a lot of harsh comments online, but now has a much stronger heart. She also said, "That's just how singing is, you can't sing perfectly every time. Maybe I didn't perform well and let everyone down, but you don't need to attack my family or make personal attacks against me."

Christine also revealed that she's now back in vocal training and continues to practice singing, hoping everyone will give her another chance. "I don't think that just because I failed once on ‘Singer’ everyone should think that Christine Fan sings badly. Fan Fan has her own style, and there will be times I make mistakes. You can choose not to listen to my singing, but please don't maliciously attack my body or my family."

As for going through her lowest point in the past 5-6 years, not only did she have to reconcile with herself and the cyberbullying, but also with the pain of losing family members—“including losing my best friend (Barbie Hsu)”—she also spent time studying and with her children. She revealed she’s never really had downtime, always healing and growing. She confessed, “Fan Fan really did suddenly mature. Many things in this real world force you to grow up and face things you don't want to face. But these setbacks, at some point, will become a kind of strength and opportunity, giving you a different perspective on the world.”
