2 Dead, 12 Injured in Alabama High School Shooting After Game

On the evening of the 4th, a mass shooting broke out in Montgomery, Alabama, after a high school football game had ended. Police stated the incident resulted in 2 deaths and 12 injuries, including 2 teenagers. At least 5 people were seriously wounded, with the youngest victim only 16 years old.

Police said the shooting took place around 11:30 pm on the 4th, when two groups of unidentified individuals opened fire on each other. As of the morning of the 5th, no suspects had been arrested.

Montgomery Police Chief James Graboys told the media: "The perpetrators showed no regard for the people around them... We will not rest until they are brought to justice."

Gun proliferation in the United States has made gun violence a "normal" part of social life. According to the latest statistics from the Gun Violence Archive website, there have already been at least 330 mass shooting incidents in the U.S. this year. The website defines a mass shooting as an incident in which 4 or more people, not including the shooter, are injured or killed.
