Sebastian Ting Allocates 200,000 to Enhance Hawker Center Facilities and Improve Business Environment

(Miri, 24th) Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism  Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew allocated RM200,000 for the expansion project of Tamu Muhibbah and Tamu Kedayan , including the construction of rain shelters and the repair of stalls to provide a more comfortable business environment for hawkers.

This fund comes from the 2024 Rural Transformation Plan (RTP). Sebastian Ting successfully applied for it earlier, and after the grant was approved, today he, along with Miri City Councilor Leslie Lau  and officials from Miri City Council's Engineering Department, went to inspect and understand the locations where rain shelters need to be added.

The main purpose of this project is to enhance shelter facilities to protect hawkers from sun and rain exposure. Additionally, the stalls within the expansion area will also undergo repairs to ensure the facilities are safe and complete.

Sebastian Ting stated that upon receiving feedback from hawkers, he applied for RTP funding to continuously promote infrastructure upgrades, ensuring that hawkers have good business conditions.

He emphasized that this enhancement project will not only improve the business space and environment of the hawker stalls but also enhance the tidiness of the cityscape, providing a better experience for the local community and tourists. He also urged hawkers to jointly maintain environmental hygiene, creating a clean and comfortable trading venue.
