A high-speed train derailment occurred in southern Spain on the evening of the 18th, resulting in at least 21 deaths and 73 injuries.

The train was traveling from Malaga to the capital Madrid when it derailed near the city of Adamuz in the province of Córdoba. Several rear carriages invaded the adjacent track and collided with another high-speed train traveling from Madrid toward the southwestern province of Huelva, causing the latter to derail as well.

At present, related rescue and search operations are still underway.
There were about 400 people on the two trains. The violent impact caused severe deformation of the carriages, and it is currently possible that nearly a hundred people remain trapped.

A reporter from the Spanish National Radio, who was on board one of the trains, said that the crash felt like an "earthquake." He stated that passengers picked up emergency safety hammers and broke the windows to escape.

An eyewitness told the media that one of the carriages of the first train had completely overturned.
