The UAE Ministry of Defense stated that on the 14th, two national oil tankers from the UAE were hit by two cruise missiles coming from the direction of Iran in the southern channel of the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in 1 death and 8 injuries.
This incident has heightened tensions in this strategic waterway.
The attacked tankers were the "Mombasa" and the "Bahia." On the former, one Indian crew member was killed, and six other Indian crew members and two Ukrainian crew members were injured, four of whom are in serious condition.
The attack also caused both oil tankers to catch fire and suffer hull damage; the fires have now been extinguished.
The UAE Ministry of Defense condemned this as a "blatant attack" and emphasized that the UAE reserves "the full right to retaliate against this escalatory action."
