A Deadly Midnight Fire Consumes Home, 9-Year-Old Boy Burned to Death

A sudden midnight fire swallowed up the laughter and joy of a family! A 9-year-old boy was tragically burned to death after being trapped in his home and unable to escape in time.

The fire broke out at around 3 am on Saturday (7th) at a residential area on Lane 1, Taman Sentosa Indah, Stutong, Kuching. The blaze not only claimed the young boy’s life, but also left five other family members injured by burns.

Reportedly, a 41-year-old woman and a 65-year-old elderly man suffered burns to their bodies and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Three other injured victims—a 40-year-old woman, a 13-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy—sustained burns to their legs and were urgently taken to the hospital by concerned bystanders.

According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, authorities received the emergency call at 3:02 am. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a two-story semi-permanent residential building engulfed in flames with 100% of the structure burned.

After the fire was extinguished at 5:35 am, firefighters discovered the charred body of a boy at the scene.

The remains have since been handed over to the police and sent to the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
