(Miri, 24th) In line with promoting the concept of a low-carbon lifestyle and healthy city, the 'Miri Car-Free Day' event will be held on May 3 (Saturday) from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM. This time, the event will take place at the Marina City Hall Square and surrounding Jalan Bandaraya, providing citizens with a more spacious and comfortable space to participate.
This year's Car-Free Day event offers a rich and diverse program, including fun walks, fun runs, fun cycling, Zumba dance, exhibitions, pickleball, taekwondo, traditional archery, fun competitions, an awards ceremony, and a lucky draw. The City Council warmly invites citizens to actively participate in promoting a healthy lifestyle, fostering community cohesion, and contributing to the goal of 'Low Carbon Miri'.
On the event day, the City Council also calls on citizens to practice the spirit of environmental protection, refraining from using plastic bags, plastic straws, and polystyrene lunch boxes to contribute to creating a cleaner urban environment.
In line with the 'Car-Free Day' event, Jalan Marina Utama and Jalan Bandaraya will be temporarily closed from 5:30 AM to 11:00 AM on the day. The Miri City Council reminds the public to plan their trips in advance and choose alternative routes to their destinations.
At that time, authorities will dispatch traffic control personnel to maintain order and set up traffic diversion signs to assist drivers in smoothly navigating around, ensuring the event proceeds smoothly.
