In 2025, China Continues to Be Cambodia's Largest Source of Investment

Last year, China continued to firmly hold its position as Cambodia's largest source of investment.

According to a report by China News Service, a report released by the Council for the Development of Cambodia on the 5th local time shows that in 2025, the Council for the Development of Cambodia approved a total of 630 investment projects, with a total agreed investment amount of 10 billion USD (40.745 billion MYR).

The report shows that the investment projects approved last year are expected to create more than 430,000 jobs in the country, with the number of projects and the total investment amount increasing year-on-year by 52% and 45%, respectively.

Official statistics show that China is Cambodia's largest source of foreign investment, with investment from China accounting for over 54% of Cambodia's total investment in 2025.

The report also indicates that last year the approved investment projects in Cambodia were mainly concentrated in manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, infrastructure, as well as tourism. These projects are mainly distributed in the capital Phnom Penh, the coastal province of Sihanoukville, as well as border provinces with Vietnam such as Svay Rieng.
