Pezeshkian: Iran Is in a 'Full-Scale War'

Published at Jul 21, 2026 04:14 pm
The Iranian presidential office issued a statement on the 20th, pointing out that President Pezeshkian stated at a meeting that Iran is currently in a "full-scale war."

He said: "The reality is that today's Iran is in a full-scale war."

He admitted that holding on to resistance is bound to come with economic costs and called on all sectors to maintain pragmatic expectations regarding the consequences of sanctions and conflict.

He said: "We must face reality and accept the inevitable results that come with this resistance."

He pointed out that the most important battlefield today is the economy and people’s livelihoods. If the government cannot ease the economic difficulties, then the social discontent caused by economic pressure may damage the tremendous social capital that the people have accumulated in support of the country.

Growing Internal Divisions

On the other hand, according to CNN, as Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba continues to remain out of sight, internal divisions in Iran are becoming increasingly sharp.

Iranian hardliners are extremely dissatisfied with the current government’s top officials reaching an agreement with the United States, believing that they are launching a "soft coup" against Iran and the national revolutionary ideals.
