(Sri Aman, 21st) Two men were arrested after a video of their reckless motorbike riding went viral on social media. The 26-second video shows the two performing 'superman' stunts, lying on their bikes head-first while racing each other on the Sri Aman to Lunok road section.
Bintulu Traffic Investigation and Enforcement (JSPT) Director Inspector John Bingu mentioned that the two suspects, in their late teens, voluntarily surrendered at 9:10 a.m. yesterday and were arrested under the police case number Bau/000197/2025.
During the preliminary questioning, both admitted to being the riders in the video and confessed to performing dangerous stunts and racing activities,” Bingu stated in a Facebook post last night.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and the involved parties may face penalties ranging from a minimum fine of RM5,000 to a maximum of RM15,000, up to five years of imprisonment, and a driving license suspension for five years upon conviction.
Bingu added that the Sarawak traffic police department will continue efforts to monitor and curb street racing phenomena that threaten the safety of other road users.
“Additionally, we urge parents and families to monitor their children's activities to prevent involvement in negative behaviors and to ensure their future,” he further stated.
The police remind the public to adhere to traffic regulations and pay attention to both their own and others' safety.
