(Kuching, 13th) Due to transboundary haze, as of 8am on Thursday, a total of seven areas in Sarawak have air pollution index (API) readings at unhealthy levels, a decrease from nine areas at the same time yesterday.
According to the Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) data, Samarahan and Serian both recorded an API of 183, the highest in Sarawak, followed by Kuching at 177.
Sri Aman recorded 159, Sarikei 158, and both Mukah and Sibu recorded 152.
An air pollution index ranging from 101 to 200 is categorized as "Unhealthy," 201 to 300 as "Very Unhealthy," and above 300 is considered "Hazardous."
There are a total of 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide, and the air pollution index is updated hourly.
