(Bangkok, 10th, comprehensive news) On the morning of January 8th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Chairman of the Thai Military Committee General Sawa, Vice Chairman Niphari, Secretary and Spokesperson Chairong, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Spokesperson Thanapong, as well as committee members and advisors, gathered at the conference room of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand in Bangkok for an official meeting with Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Thailand Zhang Jianwei, Chinese Embassy Defense Attaché Major General Zhang Linhong, and the Chinese delegation.
During the talks, both sides focused on strengthening military cooperation and unanimously agreed to carry out exchanges and cooperation in the field of military participation in disaster relief. It is reported that Major General Zhang Linhong visited the Disaster Relief Training Center under the Armed Forces Headquarters of Thailand on September 22, 2025, and both sides plan to further establish operational mechanisms in joint exercises, knowledge exchange, and skill improvement.
In addition, the talks also covered issues of misunderstandings arising from the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, and explored directions for resolution, aiming to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote the process of building a Thai-Chinese community with a shared future for mankind.
The Thai side attaches great importance to the profound friendship between the two countries spanning more than half a century, fully affirms the achievements of bilateral cooperation in various fields, and considers that this meeting will deepen mutual understanding and lay a solid foundation for more substantive cooperation in the future. The Military Committee stated that the results of the exchanges would be used in the analysis and drafting of legislative proposals, providing efficient and powerful policy advice to the government.
