From the night of the 4th to the morning of the 5th, rainfall intensified in Shenzhen, China, and is expected to continue throughout the day on the 5th. The cumulative rainfall across widespread areas of the city may exceed 100 millimeters, reaching the level of a heavy rainstorm, with some areas possibly experiencing exceptionally heavy rainfall of up to 250 millimeters.

The Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory issued a citywide red alert for heavy rain at 4:13 am on the 5th, expanding the previously localized warnings. This is the first time since Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018 that a red alert for heavy rain has been issued for all of Shenzhen.

According to meteorological authorities, from 8:00 pm on the 4th to 5:00 am on the 5th, Shenzhen recorded an average cumulative rainfall of 84.0 millimeters. The highest cumulative rainfall was 208.3 millimeters (at Gangtou Station in Longgang District), and the largest one-hour rainfall was 99.0 millimeters (at Shanxia Station in Longgang District).

Early this morning, the citywide red alert for heavy rain was issued, and the observatory called on all parties to be vigilant against heavy rain and the resulting disasters such as urban flooding, mountain torrents, landslides, mudslides, and ground subsidence.

After consultation and assessment, the Shenzhen Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters decided at 4:15 am on the 5th to upgrade the flood control emergency response to Level 3. All districts and departments are required to closely monitor rainfall and water conditions, strengthen duty shifts, promptly evacuate and relocate residents if necessary, pay extra attention to geological hazards and other secondary disasters, and properly implement all flood control measures according to contingency plans.
