(Kuching, 15th) The Sarawak PBB is committed to continuously strengthening its political direction to address the ever-changing global economic and technological landscape.

Sarawak Premier and PBB Chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari said this effort includes the establishment of a new 1828 Youth Wing (ages 18 to 28), which participated as observers for the first time in the PBB delegate conference.

He stated that this initiative is crucial to allow young people to understand the next steps and goals of the PBB.

Abang Johari made these remarks at a press conference held after attending the opening ceremony of the party's 16th PBB Delegate Conference.

“Their (former leaders) set the direction for Sarawak PBB to harness the energy of both new and old leaders in the party's struggle.”

He said that the leadership of PBB, including himself, has gone through various phases since the leadership era of Tun Jugah and Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, later succeeded by Pehin Sri Adenan, which led to a movement to restore Sarawak's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“Although the leadership period of the late Tan Sri Adenan was short, he inspired awareness among people to ensure Sarawak's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.”

Abang Johari stated that he is now continuing the approach of the late Adenan by successfully regaining some powers and rights granted under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the Malaysian Constitution through cooperation with the federal government.

Regarding political stability, he asserted that the Sarawak Party Alliance has played a significant role in easing political instability at the federal level.

“Since 2018, our central government has changed, with the appointment of Tun Mahathir, then Tan Sri Muhyiddin, Dato' Seri Ismail, and now Dato' Seri Anwar as Prime Minister."

He mentioned that the Sarawak Party Alliance and PBB helped calm the political situation during that time, and Malaysia eventually had a relatively stable government that continues to perform the role and trust bestowed by the people.
