Former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin urges the government to handle and explain the issue of the Kuala Lumpur Tower concession transparently.

He said that last Sunday, he witnessed former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir open a time capsule at the Kuala Lumpur Tower when Mahathir stated that the nation's policy should be to help capable Bumiputera entrepreneurs succeed, not to take away or stop their contracts.

He pointed out that he has recently seen the controversy over the Kuala Lumpur Tower concession, including the forced eviction that occurred on April 16th.

“This is very surprising, because to my knowledge, the dispute over the concession has been brought to court for trial.”

“This has sparked many stories. It has even reached the point where the Ministry of Communications was forced to use police and other agencies to enforce eviction to hand over the Kuala Lumpur Tower to a new concession operator. This leaves a bad impression on the government.”

“Therefore, I urge the government to transparently explain the truth of the Kuala Lumpur Tower concession transfer and it should not be seen as siding with any party.”

Muhyiddin stated in a Facebook post that people want and should receive fair and equal treatment from the government, and jungle law should never become the standard for national governance.

He said this forced eviction incident shakes the foundation of Malaysia as a nation of the rule of law.

He believes the government should consider the good record of the Bumiputera company managing the Kuala Lumpur Tower for many years, while also facing the unfair treatment of having to bear RM 300 million.

For this reason, he hopes the dispute involving the Kuala Lumpur Tower, a national strategic security asset, can be immediately rectified.
