Limbang Seizes Ketum Products; Police Detain a Suspect for Investigation

(Miri, 13th) – Limbang police conducted a raid at a house in Kampung Palawan, Limbang on Friday, seizing items and processing equipment related to ketum (Ketum), and arrested a 49-year-old man.

Limbang District Police Chief Supari Unaiot stated that during the operation at 4 pm, police seized a total of 35 bottles of green liquid, suspected to be ketum juice, with a total volume of about 52.5 liters. In addition, 25 packs of suspected dried ketum leaf powder with a total weight of about 25 kg, about 4 kg of ketum leaves, a stainless steel pot, one gas stove, and a gas cylinder were also confiscated.

Preliminary investigations showed that the suspect has no prior record and may have been involved in ketum leaf sales since the beginning of this year. His initial urine screening was negative.

The case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
