Koo Jun-yup Carries Paralyzed Teammate to Visit Big S—Writes Wife’s Name on Tissue Paper

It has been a year since Big S passed away. Her Korean star husband Koo Jun-yup and the S family recently held a memorial ceremony, with many friends and relatives attending to pay their respects—including Koo Jun-yup’s ‘Clon’ groupmate Kang Won-rae, who specially flew to Taiwan for the occasion. On June 3, Kang Won-rae recalled the anniversary and revealed that Koo Jun-yup, during their break, kept writing Big S’s name on tissue paper, expressing his longing for his late wife.

Kang Won-rae mentioned that last summer, after seeing news that Koo Jun-yup was visiting Big S’s grave every day, and since he hadn’t attended their wedding or Big S’s funeral, he decided to visit Jinbaoshan, messaging Koo Jun-yup with the thought, “I don’t know if I’ll be able to get in touch.” “But he asked me to meet him directly the following morning at the cemetery parking lot. Koo Jun-yup said there were a few steps to Big S’s gravesite, so he carried me up. Afterwards, he went to the car and brought three lunchboxes: one for Big S, one for me, and one for himself.”
Kang Won-rae visited Jinbaoshan last summer to pay respects to Big S.
Kang Won-rae said that after getting the lunchboxes, Koo Jun-yup spoke to him and to Big S: “Won-rae, say hello, this is Xiyuan,” “Xiyuan, Won-rae is here, let’s have a good meal together.” Kang Won-rae confessed that as soon as Koo Jun-yup spoke, he couldn’t hold back his tears—“At that moment I couldn’t even scoop a spoonful of rice, and Koo Jun-yup was quietly crying beside me.”

One year later, Kang Won-rae took the opportunity to visit Big S again on the anniversary of her passing. Since he hadn’t notified Koo Jun-yup in advance, he was surprised to find that Koo Jun-yup had lost so much weight he could fit into a jacket Big S gave him 26 years ago. He also hadn’t seen another friend, Hong Lu-ji, for a long time, and when Koo Jun-yup and Hong Lu-ji hugged, they both cried again. “For a while, we could barely say hello. We just stayed there quietly, wordless, wiping away tears.”

Kang Won-rae said that in the lounge, Koo Jun-yup kept replaying a Korean song and shed tears, “He kept writing something on paper. Later, after staff guided Koo Jun-yup out of the lounge, I returned to tidy up the area and found tissue paper left on the table, covered in ‘Xu Xiyuan,’ ‘Xiyuan ah,’ and so on. Worried the paper would be mistaken for trash and thrown away, I kept it myself.” This shows that Koo Jun-yup still cannot let Big S go.
