(Kuching, 13th) The Sarawak State Library recently showcased its steadfast commitment to promoting a knowledge-based society at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (PBAKL) 2025. The book fair was held from May 23 to June 1 at the Putrajaya World Trade Center (PWTC), attracting over 4,000 visitors to the Sarawak State Library booth, making it one of the highlights among the many exhibitors at this year's book fair.
This year, the focus was on strengthening cooperation and promoting Sarawak's literary works on a national platform.
The Sarawak State Library collaborated with i-CATS University College to jointly promote academic publications and local creative works. This strategic collaboration further highlights the importance of academic networks and reflects the shared mission of both parties to empower the community through quality reading materials and knowledge-sharing platforms.
“We believe these initiatives will enrich the literary field and encourage Malaysians to value the creations of local authors,” the Sarawak State Library stated in a press release on Thursday.
The booth featured a variety of activities, including Customer Day, on-site membership registration, and a special Q&A event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sarawak State Library.
Visitors were able to browse and purchase new books published by the Sarawak State Library, interact with local authors, and participate in fun activities designed to inspire reading interest.
A special local authors' section within the booth showcased Sarawak's cultural essence through literary lectures and book signing events.
Renowned authors such as Daut Bujang, Clement Langet Sabang, Abang Median Abang Said, Cassandra Eva Lau, and SNS Jong Chian Lai engaged in rich dialogues with readers, adding a vibrant touch to the event.
Famous host DJ Sonic and actor-host Sherry Alhadad humorously hosted several activities, further attracting the interest of the public.
The participation of the Sarawak State Library in the 2025 Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair once again proves its important role in promoting reading culture and celebrating East Malaysian literary contributions.
“As a continuation of this effort, the public is invited to attend the 2025 Sarawak Book Fair, which will be held from September 27 to October 5 at The Hills, Kuching.”
“The book fair will offer a wealth of literary programs and activities for readers of all ages,” the press release added.
