MRT 'Chikan Hunter' Appears Again in Lion City; Female Passenger Witnesses Same Man Harassing Women Twice in Half a Year

Published at Jun 05, 2025 02:57 pm
Another sexual harassment incident has surfaced in the Singapore MRT. A female passenger revealed on social media that she witnessed the same man harassing female passengers twice on the train over the span of six months, with the latest incident occurring on the North-South Line train on the evening of May 13.

The female passenger stated that the man used the crowded carriages as cover to press against women's buttocks with his body. She boarded the North-South Line train at Jurong East MRT station at 6:35 PM. Within seconds, she noticed a strange man pressing tightly against her from behind.

When she looked back, she recognized him as the man she had seen at the same MRT station six months ago, who had also behaved inappropriately then. She described the man as approximately 30 years old, about 170 cm tall, of slim build, wearing a short-sleeved shirt and track pants. During her observation, the man soon approached another female passenger and allegedly used his lower body to touch her buttocks.

For safety reasons, the witness did not intervene immediately but quietly took photos and videos, alerting the victim to move forward. The man alighted at Bukit Batok station, after which the witness gave the video to the victim. She said, "The girl thanked me after watching it; she was unaware during the incident."

Appears Repeatedly at the Same Station; Man Suspected of "Targeting" Pattern
Worryingly, the witness pointed out that she saw the man again at Jurong East station the next day and observed his behavior pattern, "He loiters on the platform, looking for girls waiting alone. If he can't approach a target after boarding, he immediately alights to catch the next train."

She emphasized that this was not the man's first appearance. Half a year earlier, she had witnessed him pressing against another woman in the carriage at the same location, mistakenly thinking they were a couple and did not report it, which she later regretted.

Despite concerns for her own safety, the female passenger chose to step forward, report to the police, and inform MRT staff about the situation. She urged, "While taking the MRT, always be aware of your surroundings. If you feel uncomfortable or notice suspicious behavior, immediately seek help from the train captain or station staff."

Singapore police have confirmed receiving the report, and the case is under investigation.

Background Information
According to official statistics, sexual harassment cases on the Singapore MRT increased by 15% in 2024 compared to the previous year, with "pressing and touching" lewd behavior accounting for over 60%. These incidents often occur during rush hours at high-traffic locations like Jurong East and Orchard stations.
