The "music prodigy" Khalil Fong passed away due to illness in February this year, but his works eternally remain. Recently, the 18th Freshmusic Awards (FMA) in Singapore announced the list of nominees for various awards. Khalil Fong's posthumous work "Dreamer" was nominated for Best Male Singer and Top 10 Albums of the Year. Additionally, "Stay Behind" got him nominated for Top 10 Singles of the Year, making a total of three award nominations. Notably, Khalil Fong is the only male singer representing Hong Kong in both the Best Male Singer and Top 10 Albums of the Year categories, showcasing his unique influence in the Chinese music scene and expressing respect for him.

This year's Best Male Singer nominees span generations and regions. The other seven male singers competing against Khalil Fong for the Best Male Singer award are representatives from Taiwan and Singapore. Among the 10 singers competing with Khalil Fong for Top 10 Singles of the Year, there's another Hong Kong singer, Terence Lam with "To Save the Multitudes," showing that Terence Lam has already made a name for himself beyond Hong Kong in the overseas music scene.

The Best Female Singer category has eight nominees, including Taiwanese singers Rachel Liang, Micky Lin, Waa Wei, and Chinese singer Yisa Yu. Moreover, the song "Poor Things" by Wang Fei's daughter Leah Dou featuring Waa Wei is also vying for a spot in the Top 10 Singles of the Year, illustrating the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
