Former South Korean President Moon Jae-in has been indicted by prosecutors for alleged bribery.
The Jeonju District Prosecutor's Office in South Korea stated on the 24th that prosecutors have filed an indictment without detention against Moon Jae-in for alleged violations of the 'Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes' (bribery).
Moon Jae-in, now 72 years old, was elected president after the impeachment and removal of former President Park Geun-hye in 2017, and served until his term ended on May 10, 2022.
There has long been talk of the 'Blue House Curse' in South Korea, with almost every former president failing to end their political careers peacefully; Chun Doo-hwan, Roh Tae-woo, Roh Moo-hyun, Lee Myung-bak, and Park Geun-hye have all faced imprisonment or even tragic fates.
Just this month, on the 4th, Yoon Seok-yeol was impeached and removed from office for declaring martial law on December 3 last year, and now Moon Jae-in is indicted for alleged bribery.
