Godzilla is about to rise again! GSC Movies has announced that the highly anticipated "Godzilla Minus Zero" will be officially released in cinemas across Malaysia on November 5th. The IMAX version will premiere a day earlier, on November 4th.
Riding on the extraordinary global success of "Godzilla Minus One", the previous film captivated audiences worldwide with its breathtaking visual effects, gripping human story, and powerful new interpretation of the legendary monster. It has been widely acclaimed as one of the best and most emotionally charged entries in the Godzilla franchise. The film also made history by winning the Best Visual Effects award at the 96th Academy Awards, raising fans’ expectations for the sequel to an all-time high.
Additionally, Academy Award winner Takashi Yamazaki returns as director, screenwriter, and visual effects supervisor, once again lending his unique cinematic vision to create a whole new chapter for the iconic "King of Monsters."
The story is set in 1949, two years after the catastrophic events of "Godzilla Minus One." Post-war Japan is struggling to rebuild from the ruins, and the Shikishima family is also trying to regain a peaceful and normal life. However, just as peace seems within reach, a new, even more terrifying and dangerous threat is quietly approaching.
Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe return as Koji Shikishima and Noriko Shikishima, respectively. Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Sakura Ando, and Mio Tanaka also reprise their roles from the previous film. Acclaimed actor Min Tanaka joins the cast, playing Kuji Murakami, a biologist suffering from deep psychological trauma caused by the war.
Blending a deeply moving human story, powerful scenes of destruction, and the triumphant return of one of cinema’s most iconic monsters, "Godzilla Minus Zero" is set to deliver an unforgettable big-screen audiovisual feast for both longtime fans and a new generation of audiences.
The entire film is shot using high-definition IMAX-certified digital cameras and marks the first Japanese Godzilla film specially produced for IMAX.
