Snake Found at Residence Captured by Firefighters; Authorities Urge Wild Animal Precaution

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 10th) The Brunei Fire and Rescue Department recently received an urgent call regarding wild animal intrusion. The incident occurred within a residential compound in Kampong Lubok Pulau, Tutong District, involving a snake.

The Fire and Rescue Department noted that the snake in question was a 2Kapak snake, approximately one meter in length with a body circumference of about ten centimeters, discovered in the houses yard. Upon receiving the call, the Tutong Fire Station promptly dispatched personnel to the scene and successfully captured the snake.

The operation was led by the Acting Deputy Fire Station Officer along with five firefighters, utilizing specialized snake-catching equipment to complete the task. The entire process went smoothly without causing any injuries or property damage.

In view of similar recent incidents, the authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures, including keeping doors and windows of residences or buildings closed at all times, especially when going out, to prevent the entry of snakes, stray dogs, crocodiles, monkeys, and other wild animals. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness and proper management of the home and surrounding environment can help reduce the risk of attracting wild animals.

The Fire and Rescue Department also reminds the public not to approach, provoke, or attempt to drive away wild animals on their own, to avoid danger or unnecessary accidents.
