The Iranian Revolutionary Guard issued a statement on the 23rd, declaring that three oil tankers "deceived by the United States" were blocked while attempting to pass through a mined channel south of the Strait of Hormuz; one tanker exploded and caught fire, while the other two turned back.
The statement said that the Revolutionary Guard has now taken control and completely sealed off the Strait of Hormuz, and that as long as the U.S. continues to provoke in the region, no oil tankers will be allowed to enter or exit.
The statement warned that any ships misled by the U.S., attempting to pass through the strait without prior coordination with Iran, would face the same consequences.
