(Miri, 17th) – A fatal traffic accident occurred early this morning near Miri Bagan Road, close to Miri Religious Secondary School. A male motorcyclist, estimated to be in his 30s, unfortunately fell into a roadside ditch and died at the scene due to severe injuries.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s operations center received the emergency call at 12:32 am today. Personnel from the Miri Central Fire Station were immediately dispatched for rescue operations, arriving at the accident site at 12:47 am, about 15 kilometers away.
Preliminary reports indicate the accident involved a Perodua Aruz SUV and a Yamaha motorcycle. After the incident, the people in the car managed to escape on their own before firefighters arrived, and no one was trapped.
However, the motorcyclist apparently fell into the roadside ditch following the collision. Firefighters subsequently lifted the man out of the ditch, but after examination by medical personnel, he was confirmed dead at the scene.
The rescue team then handed over the deceased’s body to the police for further investigation.
