Iran Receives Mediators' Proposal for 10-Day Ceasefire Between Iran and the US

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei stated at a press conference on the 20th that Iran has received suggestions put forward by mediators for negotiations between the United States and Iran.

However, he noted that it is not convenient to disclose specific details at this time.

Baghaei said that both negotiation and warfare are means to achieve objectives, and that it is incorrect to say that "defense and diplomacy cannot go hand in hand." Iran has never proactively violated the Iran-US memorandum of understanding; rather, the United States breached its commitments, which led Iran to take countermeasures. Iranian armed forces are currently retaliating against the US, "doing everything possible to stop its crimes."

According to reports from foreign media citing a senior Iranian official, mediators for the Iran-US negotiations have put forth a proposal aimed at easing the current situation. The proposal suggests a 10-day ceasefire in order to seek the resumption of the memorandum of understanding reached between Iran and the US last month.

Firmly Upholding National Interests in the Strait of Hormuz

Baghaei also pointed out that Iran will never allow the Strait of Hormuz to be maliciously exploited in a way that threatens Iran's security and national interests.

He emphasized that on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, as a littoral state, Iran has always worked to cooperate with the other littoral country, Oman, to take necessary measures and establish required mechanisms, firmly safeguarding national interests and sovereignty.
