(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) The Ministry of Labour enforcement unit recently conducted ‘Operasi Waspada 170/2025’ in Mukim Kilanas, carrying out spot checks at local dining establishments and uncovering multiple cases of violations against the Employment Order (Chapter 278).
It is reported that employers are suspected of six violations, including failure to pay overtime wages, failure to provide rest days, requiring employees to work on rest days, excessive working hours, failure to provide paid public holidays, and failure to provide paid annual leave.
The Ministry of Labour stated that the cases are still under investigation. If convicted, employers may be fined up to BND $1,000 for each violation. If the fines are not settled, legal proceedings will be initiated.
The Ministry of Labour reminds employers to comply with the Employment Order and protect workers' welfare, especially paying overtime wages on time, providing at least one rest day per week, and granting public holidays and paid annual leave.
