(Miri, 9th) Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin stated that he has not yet received reports from the Environment Department regarding the haze situation. The authorities will continue to pay close attention to the sources of haze and strengthen related preventive measures.
He made these remarks in response to recent haze conditions and prevention measures when interviewed by the media after attending a blood donation event at Hai Long Temple Wu Qing Long Master's Multipurpose Hall on Jalan Jepak 9 this morning.
He said that the haze situation has shown a worsening trend over the past couple of days, but relevant environmental reports have not yet been obtained. On the 12th of this month, a seminar and course related to environmental issues will be held, during which the latest reports and developments will be further learned.
“We will also take some preventive measures, and at the same time, continuously monitor the source of the haze, whether it is from local, neighboring areas, or elsewhere.”
Lee Kim Shin pointed out that relevant units, including the Fire and Rescue Department, have strengthened coordination in order to take response measures when necessary. Currently, relevant units are also carrying out patrols and monitoring work, and plan to further enhance monitoring mechanisms, including researching the use of drones to patrol relevant areas to more effectively grasp the haze and environmental status.
He emphasized that all relevant units will maintain close cooperation and take corresponding actions based on actual conditions to safeguard public health and safety.
