(Muar, 2nd) Member of Parliament for Muar, Syed Saddiq, completed the 2025 Malaysia Triathlon within the time limit, successfully raising RM1 million for his constituency.
He made this announcement in a Facebook post, describing how disheveled he was during the race, but that it was all worth it.
“Yes, I cried. Yes, I cried ugly. But it was worth it.”
“I felt like I was about to faint many times, my whole body was cramping, and I kept going in and out of the restroom because of vomiting and my body not being able to digest food.”
Syed Saddiq also broke his own record in this event. Last year, he completed the race in 13 hours and 13 minutes, while this year's record was 12 hours and 22 minutes.
He said that even though his run was terrible, he still managed to reduce his completion time by 48 minutes.
According to media reports, Syed Saddiq told the media after the race that his only goal in participating was to raise RM1 million for Muar, and he ultimately succeeded in meeting the sponsor’s requirement to finish within 13 hours.
“I finished within 13 hours, so Prima Valet must fulfill their promise to donate RM1 million to the food bank, laptops, and Hari Raya clothing.”
He said he would do his utmost to safeguard the welfare of his constituents, as they are always in his heart, and he will never let them down.
In the interview, Syed Saddiq also said that he wanted to test his physical and mental strength by participating in the triathlon and stated that he would participate again next year.
“If I remain healthy, maybe even at 100 years old I'll still be joining triathlons, because I want my body and mind to always be at their best.”
“Whether it’s in politics or any other field, if you want to be a leader, you need to always maintain a strong spirit.”
