On the afternoon of the 17th, a shooting incident occurred in North Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania, resulting in 3 police officers dead and 2 others injured.
Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Paris said at a later press conference, "Five law enforcement officers were shot, three of whom have died. They were here to follow up on an investigation that began yesterday."
He noted that the suspect was shot dead by police.
However, Paris refused to disclose specific details, only stating that the investigation is "related to domestic violence."
According to local media reports, at the time, police were executing a search warrant when a suspect pulled a gun and opened fire. Three officers succumbed to their injuries, while two others are being treated at the hospital.
Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro said, "This is a tragic and devastating day for York County, and indeed, all of Pennsylvania."
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police have launched an investigation into the shooting.
