The Keeper of the Ruler's Seal Office announced that the moon will be sighted at 29 locations nationwide on February 28 to determine the date of Ramadhan.
The office issued a statement saying that the Malay Rulers Council agreed to determine the date of Ramadhan through the observation (Rukyah) and calculation (Hisab) of the new moon.
The Keeper of the Ruler's Seal will announce this year's Ramadhan date on the same night via radio and television.
“Upon the royal assent of the Malay Rulers and the command of His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Keeper of the Ruler's Seal announces that the moon will be sighted on Friday afternoon, February 28.”
The 29 moon sighting locations are as follows:
