Russian President Putin stated on the 14th that the U.S. is making "active and sincere" efforts to end the Ukraine crisis and reach an agreement that meets the interests of all parties involved in the conflict, creating conditions for lasting peace for Russia, Ukraine, and Europe.

Putin held a preparatory meeting with senior Russian officials in the Kremlin regarding the upcoming Russia-U.S. leaders' summit and briefed them on the progress of negotiations over the Ukraine crisis.

He also said at the meeting that if Russia and the U.S. can reach an agreement on the control of offensive strategic weapons in the next stage, this would create conditions for lasting peace around the world.

At a press conference held in Washington on the 13th, Trump pointed out that if Putin does not accept the ceasefire proposal for Russia and Ukraine during the summit, he will face "very severe consequences."

White House Press Secretary Levitt stated on the 14th that the U.S. has sufficient means to help end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, but will prioritize diplomatic approaches. Levitt did not comment on whether the U.S. would use sanctions.

She noted that Trump will depart early on the 15th for Anchorage, Alaska, where the two leaders will not only hold talks but also dine together and hold a joint press conference.
