A random murder occurred in Taipei City on the 19th, resulting in a total of four deaths, including the suspect Zhang Wen himself, a 57-year-old man surnamed Yu sent to National Taiwan University Hospital, a 37-year-old man surnamed Xiao sent to Mackay Memorial Hospital, and a 37-year-old man surnamed Wang sent to Shin Kong Hospital. Among them, the man surnamed Yu treated at NTU Hospital was suspected to have suffered severe stab wounds while trying to stop the perpetrator.
NTU Hospital Director Yu Zhongren stated that two injured individuals were sent to NTU Hospital. The first was already dead before arrival, with the main cause being a stab wound to the left chest, injuring the left lung and left atrium, resulting in massive internal bleeding. Resuscitation was unsuccessful and the patient died. The second patient was sent to the hospital around 7:15 p.m. yesterday with a laceration on the left side of the neck, which was a knife wound. After being treated in the operating room and sutured without injury to internal organs, the patient is now in the intensive care unit, in stable condition, fully conscious, but slightly fatigued.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an visited Mr. Yu's family at NTU Hospital that evening. Chiang said the deceased's wife mentioned her husband was always willing to stand up, full of a sense of justice, and someone who bravely spoke up for others. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te and Minister of Health and Welfare Shih Chung-liang went to NTU Hospital to visit the families of the deceased and injured Mr. Wang.
