Woman's Boyfriend Checks Into Xinjiang Hotel, Shocked to Find Stranger Lying Beside Her at Midnight

A guest safety scare occurred at the Youju Four Seasons Hotel in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. A woman and her boyfriend checked into the Youju Four Seasons Hotel Tianshan International Plaza branch, and in the early hours, after being woken by her boyfriend, she was shocked to discover a strange man lying beside her. The man in question was later confirmed to be an intoxicated guest from another room in the hotel, who had apparently entered the wrong room due to his drunken state.

The woman reported the incident to the police and opted for a private settlement, but later criticized the hotel for providing "no apology or compensation."

According to multiple Chinese media reports, on the night of June 8, the couple checked into room 606, a twin-bed room. Each slept in a separate bed. At around 3:30 a.m. the next day, the woman's boyfriend woke her up, and upon opening her eyes she found a strange man lying beside her. She described the feelings as being "beyond words for shock, fear, and terror," while her boyfriend lay in the other bed.

The woman immediately called the police and notified the front desk. It was found that the intruder was a guest from room 605 across the hall, who was intoxicated at the time and may have entered the room by mistake while in a confused state. As the man had a "good attitude and no malicious intent," and since the woman and her boyfriend needed to catch a 7 a.m. flight, they ultimately opted for a private resolution, for which the other party offered compensation. The specific amount was not disclosed by the hotel.

● Hotel: Guests Did Not Lock the Door

The woman posted on social media to criticize the hotel's lax safety management. She said that the intruder had not checked in at the front desk, the hotel's security measures were virtually useless, and the room door did not provide adequate protection. She stated that after the incident the hotel did not offer any apology or compensation, and was not afraid of complaints.

Hotel staff confirmed the incident in response to media inquiries, but said the woman "did not fully explain the situation." Staff explained that the room was equipped with a security chain, but the woman "did not latch it or lock the door," meaning the door was actually left unlocked. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, the hotel found that when the intoxicated man entered room 606, "he did not use a key card;" he appeared to have simply pushed the door open.

The woman later deleted her related social media posts and has not yet further commented on the incident.
