Myanmar Begins Large-Scale Repatriation of Fraud-Related Individuals

The relevant Myanmar authorities handed over the first batch of hundreds of Chinese nationals involved in fraud to be repatriated by Thailand within days on the morning of the 20th.

An AFP reporter witnessed a double-decker bus transporting the individuals to be repatriated to the border post in the western Thai town of Mae Sot. 


A local border task force official told AFP, "The first batch of 50 Chinese nationals has crossed into Thailand and headed to the airport. There will be three more batches today, each with 50 Chinese nationals." 

Over the next 3 days, China will operate 16 flights to bring back 600 Chinese citizens directly from Mae Sot to China. 

The Karen Border Guard Force (BGF) in Myanmar announced on the 17th that they will gradually expel 10,000 individuals involved in fraud activities.
