On the 27th, U.S. President Trump stated that Israel and Hamas may reach a ceasefire agreement within seven days.
In the Oval Office, he pointed out that he believes a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine is about to be achieved, and revealed that he had just spoken with some people working to promote a ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave.
He said: “I think it’s very close. I just spoke with some relevant people, and we believe a ceasefire can be achieved next week.”
However, at present there are few signs that Israel and Hamas are prepared to seriously restart negotiations or are willing to give up their respective established positions.
Hamas has stated that no matter what kind of agreement is reached, they are willing to release the remaining hostages in order to end the war, while Israel says it will only end the war if Hamas is disarmed and dissolved, but Hamas refuses to lay down its weapons.
