Widespread flooding in southern Thailand over the past several days has resulted in 33 deaths.
On the 26th, Thai government spokesman Siriphong stated that there have been 33 fatalities in seven provinces, with causes of death including landslides, electrocution, and drowning.
He expects water levels in the southern region to recede.
In Hat Yai, the city worst affected by the disaster, a Thai Ministry of Health official noted that after the ground floor of the main public hospital—which is treating 600 patients (about 50 of whom are in the intensive care unit)—was flooded, authorities are arranging for helicopters to deliver food and transfer patients out.
Ministry of Health official Songrai said: "Today, all ICU patients will be transferred out of Hat Yai Hospital."
