(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), through its subordinate Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) Gambling Suppression and Vice Prevention Investigation Unit (USPPPM), successfully arrested a local woman suspected of engaging in prostitution during a raid in the Sengkurong area.
This raid was conducted at approximately 4:28 PM yesterday, based on information provided by the public and police surveillance. The operation involved nine members of the Criminal Investigation Department and was led by USPPPM Acting Head Superintendent Nor Suraya.
Police carried out a surprise search at a rented house on Jalan Paya Bunga Merah in Sengkurong, arresting a 39-year-old local woman suspected of engaging in prostitution within the room.
The police also seized several items related to prostitution activities. The suspect and the seized items have been taken back to the USPPPM office to assist further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Chapter 22, Section 294A of the Penal Code.
The department reminds the public not to be involved in any activities that violate laws and national moral standards. At the same time, the police urge the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement and to provide information concerning any suspicious activity, in order to ensure the community's safety and wellbeing.
