Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun-fat (Brother Fat) has been keen on real estate investments since the 1990s, owning a total of 8 villas valued at nearly HKD 1 billion (approximately MYR 570 million), which is well-known in the entertainment industry. Two years ago, Brother Fat's mansion at The Peak, originally sold for HKD 195 million (about MYR 110 million), saw a price drop of 11.4%, sparking attention in the Hong Kong real estate sector again.
According to comprehensive reports from Hong Kong media, Brother Fat's luxury mansion located at 48 Mount Kellett Road, The Peak, in the 'Sunshine Garden', is a detached house with a usable area of 2,547 square feet, accompanied by a 2,000 square feet garden and a 700 square feet rooftop. The villa boasts exceptional views, including a look over Victoria Harbour and a view of the South District sea. It is also the most expensive mansion owned by Brother Fat, purchased in September 2010 for HKD 128 million (about MYR 72.92 million) and held for 14 years. However, in 2022, Brother Fat decided to sell it for HKD 220 million (about MYR 125 million), but the market response was tepid. It was only recently that industry insiders noticed the price had quietly dropped to HKD 195 million for resale.
The media pointed out that if Brother Fat successfully sells it for HKD 195 million, he could earn a book profit of HKD 67 million (about MYR 38.16 million), appreciating by about 52.3%. This highlights Brother Fat's unique insight into the real estate market. It is understood that the 'Sunshine Garden' mansion has never been lived in or rented out by Brother Fat, and he is very strict with prospective buyers, meaning not everyone is eligible to view the property.
