Local Students Shine in South Korea Workshop

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 25th) At the 14th ASEAN+3 Student Science Genius Camp and the 16th ASEAN+3 Science Genius Teacher Workshop held in Seoul, South Korea, three Bruneian students contributed to their country and won a bronze medal in the cross-country team performance competition.

Meanwhile, Muhd and Nur Insyirah received awards for their exemplary pre-camp activities in physics: constructing an earthquake and other natural disaster detector using micro:bit, and in chemistry: future scientists combating acid rain.

The project, co-hosted by the ASEAN+3 Student Science Genius Camp, the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Korea Science Creativity Foundation (KOSAC), was held at the Seoul National University of Education from December 15 to 21.

The theme of the program was “From Prediction to Protection: The Role of Science in Responding to Natural Disasters,” aiming to gather talented students and educators in the field of technology.

It provided a collaborative platform and showcased skills in challenging environments.

102 students from ASEAN+3 countries participated in the project.

Before the camp, students took part in pre-study activities guided by experts from the Faculty of Science at the University of Brunei. Their participation was coordinated by the Ministry of Education through the Center for the Development of Gifted Education.
