On Monday (September 22), a doctor assault incident was reported at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.
According to reports from China Newsweek and Red Star News, multiple informed sources revealed that the incident occurred on Monday morning, and the victims were a chief physician surnamed Wang from the hospital's orthopedics department and a student who was following him on rounds. After emergency treatment, Dr. Wang is no longer in life-threatening condition. The student's injuries are comparatively minor.
One doctor involved in Dr. Wang's emergency treatment said that Dr. Wang had multiple wounds on his body and was "seriously injured"; the perpetrator has been apprehended.
At about 11 p.m. on Monday night, a doctor from the hospital's orthopedics department told media that Dr. Wang had completed surgery and had been sent to the ICU ward.
According to information, the injured doctor is Professor Wang Haibin, Director of the Department of Orthopedic Trauma at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.
The report said that many of Professor Wang Haibin's patients expressed regret about his experience. On the wall in the inpatient corridor, there are also many thank-you letters from patients thanking Professor Wang Haibin.
